A Meeting of Dice

Last night we held our first committee meeting with the club members, of which there were many. The meeting, which as with all meetings had to go through the boring bits first, went really well. We had great thoughts on bringing in new fresh members, a decision on ensuring there’s tea and coffee available for all on an evening as part of the fees and the all important logo reveal.

This was followed by a few games of Kill Team, a kick off in the Blood Bowl pitch and a quick overview of the Fall Out board game. A big shout out goes to Ethan and Luke who ran a demo game of the new Kill Team for a fair few members preparing them for life on the tabletop down the line.

Next week we play in the main room from 6pm so please get games planned in advance so we know what tables to setup.

So finally a HUGE thank you for everyone that came last night or last week. The committee is so impressed by the support so far and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for the club. This is everyone’s club so if you have thoughts send them over on anything. See you next week.

A Successful Test

Last night (9/9/21) we held a test night to see how the club would run with actual gamers. How the tables would work, wether the coffee would taste good and who got to choose the music for the night!

Mike opening up for the first time

We had 4 games running last night which still gave us lots of room for games to fit in. Games ran were a big bug vs robot battle of 40K, a pretty but vicious game of Badgers and Burrows, a frosty game of Frostgrave and the first tryout of the new Kill Team.

The tables looked great and the atmosphere in the hall worked well. We decided to include free tea and coffee which we will continued doing but people are welcome to bring there own drinks and food in the future as well. Overall a superb night.

Next week we are downstairs which is slightly smaller and it’s also our first committee meeting. Everyone is welcome to join in or setup a small game within the room. Entry will be round the back rather than through the main door. Roll on Thursday!

What do we wanna play?

Well this has shocked me… shocked me to the core I say. I popped up a poll to see which systems we all wanted to play and well the results are disgusting. how can Warhammer 40K not be at the top. This game is flawless and balanced and everyone should want to pay for an army to join in.

Ok let’s be serious now. It’s actually great to see D&D at the top and shows that whilst we all have our own miniature games that we enjoy, we all want to be pulled into a story based world of adventure and dice rolling. We will certainly take note of this and are happy for people to put forward to be dungeon masters.

Obviously there’s many other games on there, with Kill Team being a great looking skirmish system. Many up for Blood Bowl too. I also expect to see a fair few games of Frostgrave hitting the tables. If there’s systems here you want to try pop a shout out as we go and someone should be happy to teach you.

A Warm Welcome To All

Well its been day one since we launched the club to all and what a launch, A lot of interested gamers ready to get involved and roll some dice which is brilliant. We welcome all who are into the gaming of the tabletop variety and look forward to seeing the cub grow over the coming months.

Some dates for the diary:

Thursday September 9th– Test night. We will be trying the hall out with a few members so that when we are ready to kick of fully we actually know what we are doing.

Thursday September 16th– We will be holding the inaugural committee meeting of the club. There will be room for some games to be played however everyone is welcome to take part in the meeting as well if they wish.

Thursday September 23rd– First full night in the main hall, lets get those BIG games a rolling.

Thanks for reading and we look forward to seeing you very very soon.

D&Bs New Home

Last night as I type we went to visit to new hall at Levens that will be Dice & Bolters home. It’s perfect with loss of tables, a kitchen for tea and coffee and Wi-fi to boot.

Every 3rd week of the month we have to migrate downstairs into a smaller room, however there’s more than enough room down there for what we are calling ‘Small Game Thursday’. Essentially no big table games but small skirmish, board games or RPG sessions so everyone can roll some dice.

One of the best things however is the view whilst we play. Have a gander at this 😊

40K Crusade Day

We recently had a really fun 40K game day held at Matts house as a practise session for the upcoming Crusade Campaign. We had all been out of practise thanks to Nurgles Covid Rot over the past year.

There were three tables setup for us all to play with either 25 or 50 power level. Armies ranged from Iron Hands to Tyranids to the good old men of the Imperium the reliable guard.

We will be setting off with the full campaign over the winter months of 2021 and hope to have fully developed & fully painted armies as we roll into 2022.

Well, here we go!

Thank you for checking this little club page out. As a new club we have a lot to learn to ensure we give the best experience possible.

We will use this blog to look at games we’ve played, updates on any club rules or guidance or just show off some of the club members models.

Essentially check back occasionally… now let’s go roll some dice.
